Phosphosiderite 6mm Round Beads (Unique) - Grade AB

These unusual 6mm round phosphosiderite beads are a natural lilac purple with more yellow inclusions than grade A. I've graded these as A for their cutting and B for their color, thus AB. I was able to get only four strands. The beads contain natural pits and crevices.

Phosphosiderite gets its name from its chemical makeup: phosphorus and sidero, the Greek work for iron. Phosphosiderite has a Mohs hardness of 3.5 to 4, which is very soft and could crumble when shaped, so the beads are stabilized to enhance their durability. Beads of this quality are rather rare.

  • Bead Size: 6.1mm to 6.4mm
  • Strand Length: 15.8" (67 beads)
  • Source: Peru
  • Treatments: Waxed. Stabilized.
