Lapis Lazuli

Lapis contains crystals of several different mineral species all locked together in a host mineral called lazurite. The minor minerals are sodalite, haȗynite and diopside. Lapis also usually contains pyrite and flecks or streaks of white calcite. Because lapis lazuli is comprised of several minerals, it is considered a rock. Low-quality lapis is frequently dyed to enhance the color and costs quite a bit less than undyed lapis.
